Show art for Valhalla Wind’s 2026 production, “One for Sorrow, Two for Joy.” With the show being based around a poem about magpies, we felt it was important to capture the beauty of these birds as well as tie in aspects from the poem itself, such as the color gold. Two magpies were illustrated in a dynamic and interactive pose in order to show off the detail of their feathers, as well as a nod to the “Two for Joy.” There are ten total birds on the front and back combined, which is also symbolic within the poem.
